Kuala lumpur: MyCreative Ventures (MyCreative) is set to take local entrepreneurs to Indonesia and Singapore for the first time this year to showcase their artistic and creative works, as announced by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. This initiative is part of broader efforts to bolster support for the creative industry, which holds significant potential for contributing to Malaysia's economic development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Fahmi Fadzil expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting MyCreative's role in featuring local entrepreneurs through the Riuh series. The minister shared these plans during the Communications Ministry's monthly assembly, noting that MyCreative will determine the dates for the visits to the two ASEAN countries. Fahmi also referenced previous successes, such as the Malaysian film "Papa Zola," which penetrated the Indonesian cinema market, as examples of local creative works achieving international recognition.
Fahmi emphasized the importance of producing more capable producers to aid the local creative industry's penetration into global markets. He noted that this effort extends beyond MyCreative and the Communications Ministry, involving other agencies like the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), which possesses in-depth knowledge of the creative and film sectors.
Addressing the challenges faced in exporting creative products, Fahmi acknowledged the difficulty in marketing certain local products internationally, specifically in the fashion and food and beverage sectors. He stressed the need for more concerted efforts to elevate these creative materials onto the international stage.
MyCreative, a government-owned investment company, aims to invigorate the local creative industry by facilitating such international ventures and collaborations.
