New Partnership-Based League Structure Aims to Enhance Team and Player Welfare in MPL MY

Kuala lumpur: The introduction of a partnership-based league structure for the upcoming season of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) is anticipated to better safeguard the welfare of both teams and players. Former professional MLBB player Muhammad Faris Zakaria, known as Soloz, highlighted the significance of this change, especially as several teams are struggling to survive due to the high operational costs associated with running an esports organization.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Soloz emphasized that the new league structure will secure player welfare by selecting financially stable teams, thereby reducing the risk of competing teams encountering financial issues in the future. He noted that the financial demands of esports have often left teams vulnerable, and the new structure promises a more sustainable approach.

Aero Esports, an example of financial mismanagement, was banned for life from MPL MY due to outstanding financial arrears dating back to October 2025 and multiple contract breaches during Seasons 15 and 16. This case underscores the need for a robust league structure to prevent similar occurrences.

Soloz also believes that the partnership-based league structure will enhance the competitive nature of MPL MY and foster the development of new talent. He mentioned the potential for external teams joining MPL MY to bring improved facilities, which would contribute to a more competitive environment and encourage the emergence of skilled players in the future.
