MELAKA, The open house events held throughout the month of Syawal across various state constituencies could help boost the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024) campaign and attract more tourists to the state.

State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said these events also served as a platform to showcase the uniqueness of the local culture, including traditional Malay cuisine.

‘As part of TMM2024, we are taking the initiative to organise various programmes including open houses, such as in my constituency of Telok Mas.

‘The response has been very encouraging from diverse communities, not only the locals but also visitors from outside Melaka,’ he told reporters at the Aidilfitri Open House for the Telok Mas state constituency here last night.

The event was graced by Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh and the state leadership.

Abdul Razak said about 12,000 visitors attended the open house event.

‘We belie
ve that initiatives like these will drive tourist arrivals, thus achieving the target of hosting 15 to 18 million tourists this year in conjunction with TMM2024,’ he said.
