MELAKA, A total of 5,000 runners are expected to participate in the Melaka International Marathon 2024 on Aug 25 in conjunction with the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM 2024).
Jojo Events Sdn Bhd director Sharifah Farrah Soraya Syed Yusof said the second edition of the marathon, jointly organised by MMTF Consultant and Blitz One, is seen as the best platform to promote Melaka as an international-level race destination.
“The marathon will begin and end at Dataran Sejarah Ayer Keroh and, so far, runners from 28 countries have registered for it. As such, we are convinced that this is the best time to introduce Melaka as the new race destination in the world of sports.
“This is because Melaka is rich in culture and history and this race will take runners through historic and iconic places that will introduce Melaka as a World Heritage Site,’ she said in a statement today.
She said the main objective of organising the marathon is to promote running events as a way of adopting a healthy and active lifestyle and co
ntributing to the state’s socio-economy.
