Over 60,000 Students To Benefit From FLYsiswa Next Year – MOT


KUCHING, Over 60,000 students will benefit from FLYsiswa next year, which has an allocation of RM16.8 million.

The Transport Ministry said in a statement yesterday that FLYsiswa, a flight ticket aid initiative for needy students especially for Sabah and Sarawak, will help reduce the financial cost for them to fly home using domestic routes between Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan for 2025.

‘The aid is an initiative by the Unity Government to foster closer ties between Peninsular Malaysia with Sabah and Sarawak along with Labuan and to help tackle the cost of living in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI,’ the ministry said.

The ministry also said that the proposed upgrade of Tawau Airport in Sabah has been approved by the Economic Affairs Ministry under the 12th Malaysia Plan’s Rolling Plan 4, with a cost of RM130.53 million.

‘The ministry is in the process of appointing the main contractor and physical work at the construction site is expected to begin in the first quarter of 20
25 and take 36 months to complete,’ it added.

The Transport Ministry received an allocation of RM750 million under the MADANI Budget 2025 for public transport initiatives, in line with the government’s aim of reducing the people’s cost of living and to raise the quality of public services.
