PERAK GOVT PLANS TO APPOINT JULEA QIESTYNA AS HIGHER EDUCATION ICON

The Perak government plans to appoint Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) student Julea Qiestyna Abu Zar, 19, who obtained the highest score in Malaysia and the second highest in the world for the Recording Financial Transactions (FA1) examination, as higher education icon.

State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah said Julea Qiestyna’s success should be an inspiration to other students.

“The state government is proud of her achievements as well as UiTM’s for being able to produce students who will become future accountants,” he told a press conference after meeting Julea Qiestyna at UiTM Seri Iskandar here today.

Meanwhile, Julea Qiestyna credited her mother, who is also an accountant, as an inspiration.

“My mother never told me to become an accountant. When I was in high school, I was in the pure science stream but my interest is always in mathematics, that’s why I continue my studies in the field of accounting.

“It’s true that there are challenges in learning accounting, but what’s important is full participation and concentration in classes and then doing revision and exercises,” said the eldest of four siblings.
