PLUS distributes tithe amounting to RM2.3 million to asnaf in conjunction with Ramadan

KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) — PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) has channelled a zakat distribution of RM2.3 million to asnaf (those eligible to receive zakat or tithe) living along its 1,130 kilometre (km) highway stretch including the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) in conjunction with this year’s Ramadan.

In a statement today, PLUS said the tithe would be distributed to 1,997 asnaf, 17 maahad tahfiz centres and eligible PLUS staff who were affected by the floods last year.

It said PLUS managing director Datuk Azman Ismail, during a breaking of fast ceremony organised by PLUS Northen Region office in Bertam, Penang, recently, handed over a total of RM50,000 in tithe to five maahad tahfiz centres.

They are Madrasah Tahfizul Quran Penanti, Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran Wal-Qiraat, Pusat Tahfiz Bukit Gantang, Maahad Tahfiz An-Nahdhoh and Maahad Darul Furqan, with each receiving RM10,000.

Azman said the distribution of the tithe was in line with PLUS’ goal of improving the well-being and prosperity of the community and to ease the burden of the community with the country now entering the transition to the endemic phase.

All the tithe recipients comprised communities residing withjin a 30-km radious from LPT2, he added.
