Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasized the need for Cabinet ministers to focus on enforcement issues, as highlighted by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Fahmi, who serves as the MADANI Government spokesperson, elaborated that this directive follows a review of enforcement body actions, revealing that certain approaches have not effectively fortified public trust. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi underscored that ineffective enforcement actions could undermine public confidence in these institutions. He announced that Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar will remind all ministry secretaries-general to uphold integrity and prevent undesirable practices. Prime Minister Anwar recently warned against government complacency in addressing enforcement and governance weaknesses, stressing that Malaysia's integrity and economy are at risk. His remarks were made during the Prime Minister's Address with Heads of Departments and Enforcement Agen cies Related to Financial Crimes. Fahmi cited a recent case involving the director-general and deputy director-general of the Department of Environment, stating the government will allow the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to handle the matter independently. This comes as the individuals, along with an assistant environment control officer, have been remanded for a week amid investigations into e-waste management under the MACC Act 2009.
