Public Invited To Safer Internet Day 2026 Celebration At Titiwangsa Lake Gardens

Kuala lumpur: The public is invited to attend the Safer Internet Day (HKI) 2026 celebration at Astaka Titiwangsa Lake Gardens here today, featuring a range of interactive and educational activities aimed at promoting online safety.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event, themed "Smart Technology, Safe Choices: Safe and Responsible Use of AI," is organised by the Ministry of Communications and spearheaded by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to cultivate a safer digital environment, with a focus on children's online safety.

The celebration is set to commence at 7.30 am with the Safer Internet Day ExploRace. Attendees can look forward to strategic sharing sessions hosted by global technology companies. Meta will discuss Teen Accounts and parental control tools, TikTok will focus on empowering parents through online safety features, and Google will provide insights on enhancing parental controls.

Parents attending the event will have access to hands-on assistance from MCMC technical teams and experts, helping them set up safety features and control applications on their digital devices.

A major highlight of the day is the official opening of HKI 2026 by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil at 10.30 am, followed by the launch of the Safer Internet Campaign 2026.

The public is also encouraged to participate in the "Safer Internet, Everyone's Responsibility" forum at 2 pm, which will be moderated by social media personality Ariz Ramli, known as Caprice. The panel will include SAC Siti Kamsiah Hassan from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department's Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division (D11), Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Al Adib from the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) as the Children's Commissioner, and Muhammad Noor, founder of MN Amplified Marketing, also known as Madnor.

Throughout the event, visitors can explore technology exhibitions, engage in e-sports competitions, attend casual talk sessions, and visit booths hosted by the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI).

The programme will also feature a busking performance at noon and a mini concert at 3.45 pm, with performances by popular artistes such as Kaka Azraff, Insomniacks, Kmy Kmo, Luca Sickta, Ismail Izzani, and Leaism.

Additionally, a prize-giving ceremony for the HKI 2026 Video Competition is scheduled, and NADI will conduct a special interactive session on protecting against phishing threats and online scams.

HKI 2026 is held in conjunction with International Safer Internet Day, which is observed annually in more than 170 countries to promote safe, responsible, and positive internet use, especially among children and young people.
