Queen Consents To B40, Orang Asli Handicrafts Being Used As Istana Negara Souvenirs

Kuala lumpur: Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, has granted approval for handmade products crafted by B40 women, single mothers, and Orang Asli to be used as souvenirs at Istana Negara. Her Majesty shared this decision during a recent audience at the palace where she also viewed a showcase of these products by the Komuniti Tukang Jahit Malaysia and The Asli.co.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Queen expressed hope that various parties, including corporate entities and individuals, would place orders for these craft products to support the artisans. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to the creators, as they receive payment for each item produced. The Queen emphasized the importance of supporting these artisans through meaningful financial engagement.

Her Majesty also encouraged the artisans to incorporate elements of unity into their handcrafted creations, such as dolls, to symbolize Malaysia's diverse and harmonious multiracial identity. This initiative not only supports economic empowerment but also promotes cultural appreciation and unity.

Komuniti Tukang Jahit Malaysia is an organization that focuses on producing handmade sewing crafts by B40 women and single mothers. Meanwhile, The Asli.co helps Orang Asli market their beauty products and handicrafts. These organizations play a vital role in providing a platform for marginalized communities to showcase their talents and gain financial independence.
