Melaka: The additional RM20 million allocation to implement the Jiwa Murni Programme (PJM) next year is set to enhance collaboration and execution of initiatives between the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and the civilian community. Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari emphasized that restructuring the programme through a progressive approach under the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) concept will help the public recognize the shared responsibility for national defense.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Adly highlighted that with the current RM10 million allocation, PJM has already conducted over 300 community outreach programmes. The deputy minister expressed hope that the new model and additional funding will allow for an expansion of activities, especially in rural areas, including the Orang Asli communities and regions such as Sabah and Sarawak. “This is important because the public needs to understand that defence personnel not only protect the nation, but they also serve the community,” he stated at the Melaka State-level Jiwa Murni Programme event at Kampung Belimbing Dalam.
The two-day programme, featuring various activities such as a static exhibition of MAF assets and weapons, career promotions, health screenings, and a fun run, was inaugurated by Adly. During the event, he presented mock cheques to beneficiaries under various initiatives, including the Melaka State Jiwa Murni Programme and the MAF Veterans Affairs Department Housing Initiative.
In a separate development, Adly, who is also the Alor Gajah MP, assured that the MAF is on standby to assist the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) with the ongoing flood season affecting Kedah, Penang, and Perak. He confirmed that MAF personnel and assets are ready to be deployed to assist affected states, following precedents set during previous flood situations, including recent events in Sabah.
