Sacrifice to come out of new normal, says Sarawak philanthropist

KUCHING, Jan 31 — Everyone must make some sacrifices for long term mutual benefits in order to come out of the “new normal” way of life imposed since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, said Sarawak philanthropist Datuk Seri Ang Lai Soon.

He said the new normal saw the introduction measures (to contain the pandemic) that had caused human existence to be less meaningful.

“We can end this so called new normal, so that we can lead a normal meaningful life of freedom, within the framework of the law, and, hopefully, happiness when all can rebuild the almost ruined life and economy,” he said in his Chinese New Year message.

He said assistance should be given to all, especially those in the lower income groups and any form of profiteering should not be allowed at all at this trying time.

“Financial institutions which still make enormous profits must not act like a money making machine, not taking into consideration the plight and sufferings of the majority of the people,” he added.
