Pulau carey: The biodiesel production capacity from large-scale facilities such as SD Guthrie Bhd's (SD Guthrie) in Pulau Carey is critical in ensuring supply continuity and supporting the existing biodiesel usage mandate for Malaysia's transportation and industrial sectors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad highlighted the significance of the SD Guthrie biodiesel production plant during her official working visit to the facility. She noted the plant's alignment with the National Biofuel Policy and the National Agricommodity Policy (DAKN) 2021-2030, both of which aim to add value to the agricommodity sector, especially in palm oil.
During her visit, Dr Noraini observed the plant's capacity and processing technology, which contribute significantly to Malaysia's palm-based green energy industry. She remarked on the plant's role in transforming crude palm oil into a cleaner alternative fuel, aligning with global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments. Dr Noraini commended SD Guthrie's continuous initiatives in enhancing biodiesel production facilities as a progressive step forward.
Noraini emphasized the importance of collaboration between industry players and the government's policy framework in achieving Malaysia's goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. She expressed hope that her visit would foster more strategic collaborations in the future and urged industry players to invest in innovation and green technology for sustainable economic and environmental futures.
