KUALA LUMPUR, Victory in the China Open has catapulted national men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani into the top 10 of the world ranking.
Based on the latest world ranking list released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin climbed up four rungs to the eighth spot.
However, top national men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, who have yet to compete in the BWF World Tour championships since winning bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics following a toe fracture suffered by Wooi Yik, remain the country’s best combination by hanging on to fifth position in the world.
China’s Liang Wei Kang-Wang Chang continue to be atop the world ranking despite losing in the last 16 of the China Open.
Meanwhile, national men’s singles professional ace Lee Zii Jia dropped two spots to occupy fifth position in the world after his first-round exit in the China Open.
Denmark’s Anders Antonsen is now third in the world and Japan’s Kodai Naraoka is fourth.
In mixed doubles, national
professional pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie climbed up two rungs to 10th position in the world after finishing runners-up at the China Open while Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei are in ninth position.
In women’s singles, national professional shuttler Goh Jin Wei continued her downward spiral and is in 37th position after her first-round loss in the China Open.
National women’s doubles aces Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah remained in eighth position in the world.
