Souq@Keluarga Malaysia programme in Melaka receives positive response

MELAKA, Oct 16 (Bernama) — The  Souq@Keluarga Malaysia and sales programme organised by the Islamic Dakwah Foundation Malaysia (Yadim) continues to give a positive impact when a total of 1,000 items were offered with up to 50 per cent discount in Melaka.

State Women’s Affairs, Family Development and Welfare Committee chairman Datuk Kalsom Nordin said the programme was apt and part of the Keluarga Malaysia concept to improve the social well-being of the society

“I believe the effort by YADIM is good and in line with what Islam advocates, which is to reject any avenue of harm that can lead society to disasters including poverty,” she said in a statement here today.

She said the Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (AKM) Tour at the Al Alami Mosque in Ayer Keroh was the ninth location after Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Terengganu, Perak, Kelantan, Putrajaya, Kedah and Negeri Sembilan.

A total of 500 individuals from the B40, asnaf and mualaf groups around Ayer Keroh also received aid at the event.

“Recipients here and those from other locations in the state were also reached out to and received items like rice packs, chicken and groceries to be taken home,” she said.

Meanwhile, Kalsom said the establishment of the country’s first e-hailing rest area through the cooperation between the Melaka state government and YADIM was expected to be a boon to the e-hailing community.

“At the  Melaka AKM Tour, YADIM is also working with ‘Rakan Penghantar Melaka’  which comprises a group of food delivery people to send 50 sets of basic necessities directly to the needy,”  she added.
