Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) is footing the tuition fees of Form Two student Muhammad Adam Aizad Mazlan, who has to take on the responsibility of caring for both of his sick parents.
YBR general manager Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani said the foundation welcomes a school or tuition centre in Kuala Krai to contact YBR to find suitable ways to assist the student so that he can keep up with his studies despite the challenges he’s facing currently.
“We (YBR) are prepared to cover any expenses to ensure that Muhammad Adam does not fall behind in his studies. We are concerned because he frequently misses school to take care of his parents.
“If there is a school or organisation with the strategy to help Muhammad Adam to revise his lessons at home, please contact us. He has been missing lessons for three to four days in one week,” he told reporters after delivering a contribution to Rahayu Daud, 49, Muhamad Adam’s mother, at their home in Kampung Batu Jong, today.
Earlier, the media reported that Muhammad Adam was caring for his mother, who has stage five kidney disease for over a year, and his father, Mazlan Latif, 59, suffered a stroke in August last year.
According to Syaiful Rizal, YBR decided to offer the assistance because Muhammad Adam is a promising student and a good son.
“Today, we provided RM5,000 to assist Rahayu and her husband with the expenses for follow-up medical examinations, dialysis, and medications, as they do not have a source of income.
“She has also lost her vision in her left eye and is unable to work, relying entirely on public assistance and contributions,” Syaiful Rizal added.
Meanwhile, Rahayu said her family is grateful and thankful to all the concern contributors.
“Thanks to the public’s contributions, I had eye surgery in July, which enabled me to regain independence and take care of my husband, who is bedridden due to a stroke. My vision was affected by diabetes and high blood pressure,” she added.
