Task Initiative Raises Over RM4 Million to Support Underprivileged Communities in Kedah

Bukit kiara: Tabung Amanah Sultan Kedah (TASK) has successfully raised over RM4 million in contributions since January, underscoring significant community support for initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of residents in Kedah. The Raja Muda of Kedah, Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Sultan Sallehuddin, announced the impressive fundraising milestone during the TASK launching ceremony, which took place at Bukit Kiara and was attended by the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, and the Sultanah of Kedah, Sultanah Maliha Tengku Arif.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, TASK has implemented a range of initiatives targeting the B40 group, with a focus on areas such as social welfare, health and well-being, environmental conservation, animal protection, and sports development. Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah, who serves as the president of TASK, emphasized the importance of adhering to Inland Revenue Board regulations, which require fifty per cent of donations to be allocated for spending. He highlighted that RM2.04 million has already been distributed thoughtfully to ensure the effective use of funds through to the end of 2025.

Since October 2023, TASK's initiatives have positively impacted 2,224 students through various programmes. These include self-development courses, technology skills training, Technical and Vocational Education and Training based (TVET) initiatives, English language proficiency, and special educational needs support. Additionally, provisions for breakfast have been made to aid student development.

Furthermore, TASK has assisted 2,117 B40 families with diverse forms of aid, including basic food baskets, cash donations, back-to-school support, Ramadan assistance, home repairs, and disaster victim support, all aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by the less fortunate. Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah noted that 2,693 individuals benefited from initiatives providing clean water, powdered milk, and multivitamins, with a particular focus on at-risk pregnant women and children from the B40 group, thereby enhancing access to essential healthcare for low-income communities.

Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah also referenced Kedah's eKasih poverty data, which recorded 28,468 households classified as poor and 2,294 identified as hardcore poor as of January 2026. In light of these statistics, TASK aims to expand its reach and effectiveness by fostering partnerships with the government, private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and communities. These collaborations will be based on transparent impact assessments to achieve sustainable well-being for the people of Kedah.

TASK was established with the consent of the Sultan of Kedah as a trust and welfare platform to support the community, particularly those in need. It was incorporated under the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department on January 15, 2025.
