TB Outbreak in Johor: Three Students Recover, Four Still Quarantined

Johor bahru: Three of the seven students in Johor diagnosed with tuberculosis have recovered, while four continue to remain under quarantine, state Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin announced. The three students who have recovered are primary school pupils from Kota Tinggi. In the same district, three students remain quarantined, along with one from Pontian, following health protocols.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the recovered students were monitored for a week before being cleared to return to school. In the Kota Tinggi cluster, a screening was conducted on 804 close contacts, including teachers, students, and family members, resulting in six positive cases among the students. In Pontian, screenings were done on 31 students, with one confirmed case.

Aznan Tamin assured that the spread of TB in schools is under control, with measures in place to prevent further transmission. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad reportedly stated that a total of 37 TB cases have been detected in Johor to date.
