Kuala lumpur: The Terengganu men’s hockey squad successfully defended their title in the 2025 TNB Tun Abdul Razak Cup by defeating Pahang 4-2 in the final at the Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium today. Terengganu’s victory marked a significant achievement as they managed to overpower their opponents with a series of strategic plays and effective teamwork.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the match saw Terengganu break the deadlock in the 19th minute with a goal from Muhammad Abid Sufian Mat Ruslee. This set the pace for what became a commanding performance by the Terengganu team. Faizal Saari, a key player for Terengganu, further increased the pressure on Pahang with a penalty stroke goal in the 23rd minute. Demonstrating his skill, Faizal scored again with a solo move just six minutes later, bringing the score to 3-0.
In the third quarter, Terengganu continued to assert their dominance with a goal from Darwisy Hamdan in the 36th minute. Despite attempts by Pahang to stage a comeback with goals from Muhammad Syawal Abdul Razak in the 42nd minute and Tengku Nasrul Ikmal Tengku Abd Rahim in the 52nd minute, Terengganu maintained their lead, concluding the match with a 4-2 win under the guidance of coach Mohd Harfizi Baharom.
In parallel, the women’s competition saw Young Tigress defend their championship title by defeating Selangor in a penalty shootout with a 3-1 scoreline. The match had ended goalless during regular play, leading to the decisive shootout.
