TNB-QNET SELANGOR HOCKEY LEAGUE BACK AFTER FIVE-YEAR HIATUS

PETALING JAYA, After a five-year hiatus, the TNB-QNET Selangor Hockey League (SHL) will be back in action starting today until June 2, aiming to unearth new hockey talents in the country.

Selangor Hockey Association president S. Ganesh said the league will be contested in three divisions and is open to all age groups.

‘The last time it was held was in 2019, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was halted. It’s back this year.

‘We organise this league for grassroots development, and with the support of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC), we will be more committed to organising leagues like this,’ he told reporters at the SHL launch at lQI Tower here today.

Ganesh said the first division will see eight elite teams competing, while 10 teams will compete in Division 2, and six women’s teams will battle it out in Division 3.

Meanwhile, QNET general manager B. Puspalatha said the company was always willing to assist in sports grassroots development, adding that it had no hesitation to help the SHL when
approached for sponsorship.

‘For SHL, we provide financial sponsorship, and we also provide the venue for its launch event, like today at QI Tower,’ she said.
