Unity Games to Be Expanded – Saraswathy

Bukit Kiara: The Unity Games, a popular event known for drawing significant crowds last year, is set for expansion in both scale and the number of games offered this year. National Unity Deputy Minister K. Saraswathy announced plans to increase participant engagement while also organizing additional events aimed at promoting unity and diversity among the youth.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saraswathy emphasized the ministry’s focus on identifying and promoting events that are particularly appealing to young people. This year’s Unity Games will include ‘Sukan Perpaduan,’ a unique initiative featuring multi-ethnic teams to foster better interaction among participants. “Last year, nearly 23,000 people took part and we hope to make it even bigger this year,” she stated during her address at the Pongal Perpaduan programme held at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple.

Furthermore, Saraswathy highlighted the inclusive nature of the Pongal celebration in Malaysia. While traditionally observed by the ethnic Tamil community, the celebration stands out due to the involvement of diverse communities across the country. “We hope to promote greater involvement from all ethnic groups so that the significance of this cultural practice can be better understood,” she added.
