UPM Sarawak Recognized as Crucial Partner in Sarawak’s Food Security Plans – Aaron


Bintulu: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Sarawak is being recognized as a key strategic partner by the Sarawak government in advancing its food security agenda, as stated by National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang. The institution also serves as a significant academic hub in Borneo, focusing on tropical biodiversity research and community development within the state.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, the National Unity Minister expressed confidence that the state government, led by Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, will continue to support UPM Sarawak’s pursuit of excellence. His remarks were made during the Sirih Pulang ke Gagang Homecoming Alumni XIII dinner at the university. He noted the institution’s growth from modest beginnings in Semenggok, Kuching, to becoming a prominent center of educational excellence.



The Minister emphasized UPM Sarawak’s commitment to providing high-quality education supported by comprehensive infrastructure for academic and research purposes. The university has become an important center of knowledge in strategic fields such as modern agriculture, science, biodiversity, forestry, and aquaculture.



He further highlighted that the university’s diverse disciplines align with and support both state and national development agendas, positioning it as a key institution in driving advancements across critical sectors in the country.
