Veteran TV Director Haris Kadir Dies At 60

Daro: The nation's arts industry has lost another luminary with the passing of veteran drama director Haris Kadir, 60, early this morning. His death was confirmed by the secretary-general of the Malaysian Film Directors Association (FDAM), Faizal Ariff, who said Kadir died at approximately 5 am at Ampang Hospital after a battle with lung cancer.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, FDAM officials had visited Haris Kadir on January 21 to monitor his condition. FDAM chairman Datuk Afdlin Shauki described the loss as profound, praising Haris as a pioneering figure who laid the groundwork for today's generation of directors.

Afdlin highlighted Haris's instrumental role in raising the stature of TV drama directors, noting his immense contribution to the industry. Haris Kadir is credited with opening doors and creating opportunities for subsequent generations of directors.

Born in 1966, Haris Kadir leaves a rich artistic legacy. His work is celebrated in landmark series and telemovies such as Manjalara, Misi Anak Bulan, Cinta Ibadah, Bukan Kerana Aku Tak Cinta, and the Bila Hati Telah Hitam telemovie series.
