Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has conducted a stakeholder engagement session with private kindergarten operators to discuss strategies for enrolling six-year-old children into Year 1 from 2027, in line with the introduction of the new school curriculum. Minister Fadhlina Sidek stated that the session aimed to gather feedback and views from kindergarten operators to ensure the policy is implemented smoothly and in an orderly manner.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, private kindergarten operators expressed support for the initiative, describing it as a move to strengthen the foundation of early childhood education. However, the ministry has taken into account several concerns raised, particularly regarding the coordination of the transition period for children moving from kindergarten to primary school. MOE takes all feedback seriously and will examine the issues in detail to identify the best possible solutions.
Fadhlina Sidek emphasized that the engagement reflects the ministry's commitment to involving all stakeholders in shaping inclusive and sustainable education policies. She also mentioned that the new school curriculum will be fully implemented in 2027 for Year 1 and Form 1 students nationwide, while the new preschool curriculum was introduced this year.
Earlier, she launched the distribution of 145,000 Farm Fresh Grow UHT milk packs free of charge to preschool students across Penang to support children's nutrition and development.
