A whale carcass weighing more than 10 tonnes was found washed up on the shore of Dien Hung commune, Dien Chau district in the central province of Nghe An on May 11. The carcass, about 9 metres in length, was in the process of decomposition. Local authorities and fishermen buried it on the same day in accordance with the customs and cultural practices of coastal residents.
