Kuala lumpur: A total of 1,000 sites, including those in Sabah and Sarawak, have been designated for Phase Two of the National Digital Network (JENDELA) plan this year, announced Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching. This initiative is expected to enhance internet coverage and stability across the nation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Deputy Minister revealed that while 2,700 sites are part of JENDELA Phase Two, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has already issued tenders for the first 1,000 sites this year. Teo made these remarks during a press conference following her participation in the JAPEN@PETRONAS Jalur Gemilang Expression Programme.

JENDELA is a governmental project spearheaded by MCMC to bolster digital infrastructure and improve internet accessibility nationwide.

In addition to discussing digital infrastructure, Teo highlighted the RIUH Merdeka programme, which includes various activities for the public, especially those attending the parade at Dataran Putrajaya. Public transport services, including shuttle buses, will be available, with buses operating every five minutes from MRT Putrajaya Sentral and every ten minutes from the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

Teo encouraged the public to use these transport services due to road closures. In a bid to celebrate National Month, she also distributed Jalur Gemilang-shaped magnets, a collaborative effort between the Communications Ministry, JAPEN, and PETRONAS, at selected petrol stations.
