Kuching: Bank Rakyat, in collaboration with the Sarawak Education Department, has channelled RM100,000 in donations to 1,000 students from 45 schools through the Bank Rakyat MADANI Community Outreach Programme: Back to School in the state. The donation was presented by Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development, Datuk Ewon Benedick, at a ceremony held at the Sarawak Education Department office.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this initiative benefits students from underprivileged families in the Kuching, Lundu, Bau, and Padawan districts, providing cheerful respite as they prepare for the new school session. As part of its charitable efforts, Bank Rakyat also donated RM10,000 to the Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Children's Home.
Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak emphasized that the initiative goes beyond material assistance, aiming to elevate the dignity of the needy and ensure inclusive success. "Bank Rakyat will continue to ensure that each of our programmes and initiatives provide lasting benefits," he said.
Meanwhile, deputy director (student development sector) of the Sarawak Education Department, Zamzaitul Akmal Hisham Ahmad, expressed his appreciation for Bank Rakyat's efforts to empower the educational journey of underprivileged students. He noted that the initiative not only alleviates the financial burden on parents but also contributes to the development of the students' education.
