Sungai buloh: A total of 130 high-achieving Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) students from the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency who succeeded in pursuing studies at institutions of higher learning (IPT) have received education assistance amounting to RM50,750.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sungai Buloh MP Datuk Seri R Ramanan in a Facebook post said that of the total, RM38,500 was contributed by Bank Rakyat while the remaining RM12,250 was his personal contribution. Datuk Seri R Ramanan expressed his regret over not being able to attend the event due to his work commitments in Sabah, but mentioned that he communicated with the students via video call. His senior private secretary, Firdaus Farid, was delegated to attend the programme on his behalf.
The PKR vice-president highlighted that the programme, implemented with Bank Rakyat and Yayasan Bank Rakyat in Sungai Buloh since 2024, included incentives for excellent SPM students, school and schooling assistance incentives, Back to School assistance, and the Rakyat Tuition Programme. Since 2024, Bank Rakyat and Yayasan Bank Rakyat have channelled nearly RM1.2 million to more than 4,000 recipients including students, families, and the underprivileged from various communities in the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency.
Datuk Seri Ramanan expressed gratitude to Bank Rakyat and Yayasan Bank Rakyat for their cooperation with the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Centre. He noted that such efforts are vital for uplifting the future of children and strengthening the well-being of the people.
