Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) as a beacon of transformation to help the people face increasingly complex challenges, particularly in light of evolving global economic and geopolitical landscapes.

The plan addresses pressing issues including the rising cost of living, slow wage growth, the transition to an ageing nation, environmental degradation, and the impacts of climate change.
He emphasized that the 13MP is not merely a conventional government blueprint but a concerted effort to reflect the people's aspirations, rooted in the principles of 'Maqasid Syariah', and driven by the priority of upholding human dignity. Anwar highlighted the importance of building a social system that ensures a decent and dignified life, emphasizing spiritual, human, and intellectual values over material achievements.
The prime minister stressed that robust governance, which is transparent, agile, and accountable, is essential for upholding moral and political responsibility. He noted that good governance is a vital tool to ensure fair and equitable distribution of national wealth, irrespective of background.
To achieve the status of a developed nation by 2030, Anwar underscored the necessity of accelerating economic growth, focusing on diversifying the economy through digitalisation and artificial intelligence. He also called for fostering a culture of innovation to produce high-value products branded 'Made by Malaysia', supported by a skilled and diverse talent pool across various fields.

He also mentioned Malaysia's ambition to broaden its international engagement, positioning itself as a prime destination for high-quality and high-value investments in sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and renewable energy.
The prime minister reiterated Malaysia's resolve to advance the global Islamic economy, expanding Islamic financial products and strengthening the halal industry through international partnerships. He expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the formulation of the 13MP, acknowledging the challenges faced during its development.
Anwar called on all Malaysians to unite in realizing the 13MP agenda, expressing confidence in its potential to chart a new chapter in the nation's history, delivering meaningful success that uplifts Malaysia's dignity and shapes a civilised and competent society.
