14 MOE Projects Worth RM34 Million Completed Ahead of Schedule in Terengganu

Kuala terengganu: A total of 14 projects, valued at RM34 million, for the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Terengganu have been completed ahead of time, according to Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan. These projects are part of the Public Works Department (JKR)'s initiatives to ensure timely or early completion of educational facilities in the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 14 projects represent a small segment of the 111 MOE projects being managed by the JKR in Terengganu this year, which collectively amount to RM302 million. The Deputy Minister emphasized the commitment to completing all these projects ahead of schedule. The statement was made during a handover ceremony for Projects Completed Ahead of Time by the Terengganu JKR to the MOE, officiated by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tok Jembal.

The Deputy Minister highlighted that the use of modular methods and the Industrialised Building System (IBS) were key contributors to the early completion of the projects. Additionally, the efficiency of JKR officers at various levels ensured the successful execution of projects for public benefit, aligning with the goal to have all work completed by the end of the year before the school term begins.

Another significant factor contributing to the success was the careful selection of reliable contractors, which avoided delays and ensured smooth project execution. The Malaysian JKR stated that the completion of projects ahead of time allows for immediate use of facilities, optimizing the teaching and learning process.

The JKR is currently overseeing a diverse range of projects under the 12th and 13th Malaysia Plans, including the construction of multi-purpose halls, addressing high-density school issues, and integrated infrastructure maintenance. The Quick Win Cakna MADANI Initiative aims to provide additional classrooms using modular and IBS methods in preparation for the 2027 school session.

From January 2025 to August 2026, JKR completed 37 projects valued at RM85 million, achieving a cumulative early completion record of 2,697 days, averaging 72 days ahead of schedule for each project. This accomplishment supports the government's goal to implement the single-session school policy by 2030, with a focus on sufficient and quality educational infrastructure.

The JKR stated that this achievement reflects the efficiency of public governance and the transparency of allocation management, aligning with the aspirations of the MADANI Government. The agency emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with the MOE to prioritize sustainable, safe, and high-quality educational infrastructure, which is crucial for the nation's human capital development.
