Kuala lumpur: A total of 150 Indonesian nationals were deported to their home country via the Pasir Gudang International Ferry Terminal yesterday, with most having committed immigration offences.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Johor Bahru said the group comprised 100 men, 48 women, a 15-year-old boy, and a one-year-old girl. The immigration offences included overstaying and working without a valid permit, while the deportation was carried out in cooperation with the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM), KJRI said in a statement.

The KJRI Consular Officer, Leny Marliani, stated that the deportation is not merely an administrative immigration process but also an important step towards rehabilitation and reintegration into society upon the individuals' return home. From January to September, KJRI Johor Bahru had assisted in the deportation of 4,166 Indonesian nationals from the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia.

Meanwhile, JIM said the 150 Indonesian nationals were detainees from six immigration depots, and the deportation process was coordinated by the Depot and Detainee Management Division at the Immigration Headquarters in Putrajaya. The department noted that the process was carried out in cooperation with Indonesian authorities, particularly in identity verification and the preparation of detainee documentation, to ensure the deportation was conducted in an orderly and safe manner in accordance with established procedures.
