160 Students To Be Pioneers Of Form Six Education Programme At Public Universities

Kuala Lumpur: A total of 160 students will be selected as pioneers of a Form Six Education Programme at two public universities starting June 10, said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek. She announced that the pilot programme will be implemented at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), marking the ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and prestige of Form Six education.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the first intake will consist of 100 students at UKM and 60 students at USM, who will need to apply and meet specific criteria. Minister Fadhlina expressed anticipation for the initiative while speaking at the launch of the Anti-Corruption Heroes Comic Collection, published by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM) at the World Trade Centre.

The Form Six Education Programme at public universities was formally announced by the Education Ministry on May 19. The ministry will provide teaching staff for the programme, and teachers are already prepared to implement the pilot initiative. Initially, the programme will be limited to UKM and USM, with plans to expand to other universities based on need and suitability.

In addition to discussing the Form Six initiative, Minister Fadhlina commented on the comic collection's launch, emphasizing its role in promoting anti-corruption awareness at the primary school level. The comics and interactive videos are expected to be featured on the Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia (DELIMa) platform, aiming to strengthen advocacy and public awareness among children about combating corruption.

The launch event also included the handover of the Wira Anti Rasuah comic collection from MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Azmi Kamaruzaman to the Director-General of Education Datuk Azman Adnan. The comic collection is an English to Malay translation of 'Bribe Busters: A Trace Comic Book' and is available in multiple formats to attract young readers and instill integrity in students.

The publication of this book demonstrates the commitment of ITBM and MACC to support the government's efforts in addressing corruption through a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability. This initiative aligns with the Education Strategy outlined in the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2024-2028. To ensure widespread access, the comic collection will be distributed to all primary schools under the Ministry of Education.
