Kuala lumpur: The status of the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case involving Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak remains unchanged following his conditional pardon, said Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman. He emphasized that each case must be handled separately based on the issues and investigations involved.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MACC Chief Commissioner Abd Halim Aman stated, "For our part, cases that are still pending will continue as usual. The status quo remains," during a press conference. This was in response to questions regarding the impact of the conditional pardon granted to the former prime minister on the ongoing 1MDB case and appeal.

Abd Halim further explained that one case cannot simply be equated with another, as each investigation involves different allegations and issues. "We need to understand that each case is different. They cannot be handled as if they were the same case, as each investigation is focused on what is being investigated, whether it concerns specific issues raised or complaints received," he said.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has consented to grant Najib a conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, subject to the payment of a RM50 million fine. The Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister's Department announced that the decision was made at the 64th meeting of the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya, held at Istana Negara.
