Sungai nakat: The 20th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (20 RAMD), based at Sri Miri Camp, is set to undertake a series of significant military exercises in the Sungai Nakat area, Bakong. These exercises are scheduled to occur in phases as part of a broader initiative to bolster operational readiness.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initial exercise, titled Pasak Bumi Exercise (EPB) Series 2/2025, will run from August 26 to September 2. This exercise will see the involvement of 170 officers and personnel. It is structured around the Counter-Insurgency Warfare (CIW) concept and includes a 40-kilometre tactical navigation movement spread over ten days. The activities will encompass base establishment, communications handling, immediate action drills, as well as ambushes and assaults on enemy camps.
The second exercise, MALBRU SETIA Exercise Series 17/2025, is planned in collaboration with the Royal Brunei Land Force and will take place from September 11 to 16. Following this will be the Mertak Bersatu Exercise Series 15/2025 in Kota Belud, Sabah. These exercises also follow the CIW concept and will engage 300 officers and personnel over six days.
The statement further highlighted that the exercises are designed to test the leadership and command capabilities of team leaders, improve skills, discipline, cooperation, and camaraderie among participants. They also aim to enhance the mental and physical fitness of RAMD personnel and evaluate the unit's preparedness and efficiency in addressing real threats.
