Tokyo: The Japan Prize Foundation announced the winners of the 2025 Japan Prize at 1 PM on January 22, 2025. Prof. Russell Dean Dupuis from the USA has been awarded in the fields of Materials Science and Production, while Prof. Carlos M. Duarte from Spain has been honored in the fields of Biological Production, Ecology/Environment.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this year's Japan Prize recognizes Prof. Dupuis for his significant contributions to the development of metalorganic chemical vapor deposition technology for compound semiconductor electronic and optoelectronic devices, as well as his pioneering work in its large-scale commercialization. Prof. Duarte is acknowledged for his work on marine ecosystems, particularly through his research on Blue Carbon, which enhances understanding of these systems in the context of a changing Earth.
