22,368 Traders Register for E-wallets Through ReDI Initiative, Exceeding Malaysia Plan’s Target

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), through its Retail Sector Digitalisation Initiative (ReDI), has facilitated the registration of 22,368 traders nationwide for e-wallet services since the program's launch in August 2022, continuing through May this year. This initiative has surpassed the 12th Malaysia Plan's goal of 15,000 registered traders by this year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali noted that from January 1 to May 31, 2025, a total of 3,229 traders across the country registered under ReDI. Among these, 1,120 were from Sabah and 1,799 from Sarawak.

These remarks were made by Armizan during the flag-off ceremony of the Sabah Zone-level ReDI Roadshow 2025. The ongoing 10-day Borneo ReDI Roadshow 2025 was organized by KPDN and began on June 26 in Sematan, Sarawak. It is set to conclude on July 5 in Tawau, Sabah.

The Borneo ReDI Roadshow 2025 is seen as a proactive effort by KPDN to enhance awareness among rural traders about the benefits of digital-based business operations. The primary aim is to encourage the use of e-wallets for transaction purposes, promoting a cashless society, particularly in rural regions.

The ReDI initiative is designed to offer efficient financial management, business development opportunities, a variety of payment options, and effective inventory control for traders. Armizan emphasized that the initiative is bolstered by strategic collaborations with partners such as Bank Negara Malaysia, PayNet, and registered e-wallet providers like Touch 'n Go eWallet, GrabPay, ShopeePay, MAE by Maybank, Boost, and SPay Global.

As of the fifth day of the ReDI Borneo Roadshow 2025, Armizan reported that 3,708 traders in Sabah and Sarawak have registered under the initiative.
