Kampung beting lintang: A total of 36 new houses under the Special Fishermen's Housing Project (PKPN) have been completed nationwide this year, involving a cost of RM3.02 million, said Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) chairman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil. He said that the remaining 32 allocated houses are still under construction.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the government, through LKIM, has allocated over RM10 million for the construction of new homes and the repair of existing ones for the fishing community. The construction cost for each new house is RM84,000, while repairs for existing homes cost RM20,000 per unit. Muhammad Faiz shared these details with reporters after handing over two newly built PKPN houses during the Majlis Ramah Mesra MADANI with the LKIM chairman and the Besut fishing community in Kampung Beting Lintang.

He stated that 131 houses, costing a total of RM2.62 million, have been repaired this year, while work on the remaining 81 houses is still in progress. Muhammad Faiz highlighted that Terengganu recorded the highest number of new house recipients nationwide under the project, with a total of 17 units.

At the event, he also officiated the newly completed Beting Lintang Fisherman's Jetty constructed by LKIM at Sungai Beting Lintang, at a cost of RM497,000. The nearly 100-metre jetty is expected to provide greater convenience for more than 100 coastal fishermen in the village to dock their boats, while also enhancing the productivity of their catch.
