Kuala Lumpur: The 46th ASEAN Summit, which concluded today, has been hailed as a success after meeting its objectives and drawing praise from foreign delegations, including from Gulf nations and China.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar stated that the summit, which began on Monday, proceeded smoothly without any incidents and garnered international attention, notably for its gala dinner. Shamsul Azri noted that foreign delegates praised the event, especially during the gala dinner performance held last night.
The summit successfully met its objectives across various sessions, including the 46th ASEAN Summit, the ASEAN-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Summit, and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit. Shamsul Azri shared these insights after visiting the International Media Centre at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
The summits addressed a range of regional and international issues, with a focus on matters involving Gulf countries and China. Shamsul Azri expressed confidence in Malaysia's ability to deliver even better outcomes for the upcoming ASEAN Summit, scheduled for October.
He mentioned plans to conduct a post-mortem to identify any weaknesses or shortcomings, aiming for further improvements to ensure greater success for the 47th ASEAN Summit. Additionally, he extended his appreciation to the Foreign Ministry and all personnel involved in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of the summit.
