Kajang:A total of 50,000 hawkers and small traders nationwide are anticipated to convene at Kajang Stadium, Selangor, for the 2026 National Hawkers and Small Traders Day (HPPK 2026) from October 30 to November 1.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the president of the Federation of Malaysian Malay Hawkers and Small Traders Associations (GPPPKMM), Datuk Zainal Abidin Abd Majid, stated that this large gathering highlights the gratitude for the Prime Minister's dedication to supporting this sector through various forms of assistance and incentives detailed in the recently announced Budget 2027.
Zainal Abidin expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister's focus on the development of hawkers and small traders, particularly among Malays, as well as the broader community. He noted that the increased allocations, improved access to financing, and various business support initiatives offer these traders hope for enhanced competitiveness and business expansion.
He also praised the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (MECD) for its role in championing the entrepreneur development agenda and serving as a vital link between the government and small traders. He emphasized the importance of continuing this cooperation to ensure that the needs of hawkers and small traders are considered in government policy and program implementation.
The GPPPKMM believes that the success of the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) development agenda, including for hawkers and small traders, should result in higher incomes, greater business opportunities, improved access to financing, and a more supportive business environment.
