60 Padang Terap SPM Students to Visit Japan or Indonesia for Outstanding Results

Padang terap: Sixty students, who obtained excellent results in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) in the Padang Terap district, will be rewarded with educational trips to Japan and Indonesia. The reward, offered by the non-governmental organisation (NGO) Kedah Anak Muda MADANI, aims to appreciate the achievements of the students involved in the examination.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the NGO's chairman, Datuk Zuraidi Rahim, stated that all the students involved were from two schools that were adopted by the NGO, as well as seven other schools in the district. "For the excellent students from the adopted schools, I will take 20 individuals for an educational visit to Japan, while 40 excellent students from the other schools will be taken to Jakarta, Indonesia," he told reporters. Zuraidi further explained that although there was an initial plan to take students to London, the destination was changed to Japan due to the conflict in West Asia, in consultation with the Kedah State Education Department and the District Education Office.

Zuraidi mentioned that the educational visits are expected to occur next month before the students continue their studies at higher learning institutions. He emphasized that these visits are not solely for enjoyment, but will include educational and scholarly content, featuring visits to higher learning institutions in both countries. In Indonesia, students will visit several universities recognized by the government, particularly in the field of medicine, to inspire them. In Japan, students will have the opportunity to visit Tokyo and Osaka to observe the learning culture and progress.

Zuraidi expressed hope that the initiative would inspire the students to continue excelling in their education and achieve their ambitions. Additionally, he announced that students from the Padang Terap district who excelled in the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examination and attained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 would be rewarded with a trip to Bali, Indonesia.
