Kuala lumpur: A total of 700 students sitting for the Tamil subject in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination will receive a free special guidebook to assist them in their preparations. Deputy National Unity Minister K. Saraswathy announced that the guidebook, which encompasses the syllabus for all three semesters, was developed by a group of intellectuals, including professors and Form Six teachers.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the guidebook will be distributed free of charge every year to all students nationwide who plan to sit for the Tamil subject in STPM, particularly those without access to a Tamil language teacher. Previously, the Ministry of Education had published a similar guidebook in 2018 to support students in need.
Saraswathy emphasized that the publication of this book is a continuation of the government's efforts to increase reference materials for the Tamil subject, thereby addressing the limited number of teachers for the subject. She made these remarks after launching the 'Buku Panduan STPM Bahasa Tamil' at an event today.
The guidebook, which is yet to be available on the market, was published through an initiative by the International Association for Tamil Research (IATR). Saraswathy also urged schools to obtain the guidebook to aid students in preparing for the upcoming STPM examination.
Highlighting the importance of the guidebook, Saraswathy noted, "I believe this book will serve as an important reference for students and help address the relatively limited number of Tamil language teachers." During the event, she also presented the book to 100 students.
