Sabah: The government is urging some 71,000 vehicle owners in Sabah who are eligible for an additional 100-litre quota under BUDI Diesel to submit their applications immediately.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud emphasized that the additional quota should first be fully utilized to enable the government to assess the actual need before considering any further increase to the BUDI Diesel quota. He highlighted that of the approximately 120,000 eligible vehicle owners, only around 49,000 had submitted their applications so far.
Mustapha urged all those who have yet to apply to register their vehicles to utilize the 100 litres, which would allow the government to ascertain the true quota requirements. He addressed reporters at the MADANI Kita Bersama Komuniti Darau @Sepanggar programme, stressing the importance of this initiative.
Furthermore, Mustapha noted that the government had received requests from traders and companies for an increase in the diesel quota for certain categories of vehicles. This request is currently under consideration by the Ministry of Finance. The government is also seeking input from various parties on the implementation of BUDI Diesel, with a detailed study planned before any further announcements.
Last Tuesday, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan indicated that the government is expected to announce improvements to the BUDI Diesel implementation within one to two months, focusing on the application process and eligibility requirements.
