810,000 Vehicles Expected to Enter Negeri Sembilan During Aidilfitri: Police

Negeri Sembilan: Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof announced that approximately 810,000 vehicles are anticipated to enter the state during the Aidilfitri period. This represents a significant 76 percent surge, equating to 350,000 additional vehicles compared to the typical weekday traffic of 460,000 vehicles. The increase in traffic is expected to result in intensified congestion, particularly during peak travel times as individuals journey back to their hometowns or visit popular destinations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, to address the surge in traffic, police enforcement will be strengthened at 19 identified congestion hotspots and three accident-prone locations throughout the festive season. Ahmad Dzaffir indicated that these hotspots are distributed across all districts, with seven located in Seremban, including notable areas like the Bukit Chedang roundabout and various traffic lights and roads.

In Port Dickson, congestion is anticipated at locations such as KM5-7 Jalan
Pantai and other key routes. Additional hotspots include intersections and roads in Kuala Pilah, Jempol, Jelebu, Rembau, and Nilai. The three identified blackspot locations are KM 11 Jalan Seremban (Port Dickson), KM 19-22 Jalan Seremban-Simpang Pertang (Jelebu), and KM 5 Jalan Bahau-Kemayan (Jempol).

The police chief emphasized that resources at both contingent and district levels will be deployed for crime prevention, intelligence operations, and patrols in residential and commercial areas. This effort is particularly focused on premises whose owners have informed the police of their absence. As part of the Negeri Sembilan Police Contingent’s Safe Home Campaign, which runs until April 6, 206 officers and personnel will be on duty, with only 10 to 15 percent of the 4,900-strong force allowed to take leave during this period.

In a related development, Ahmad Dzaffir reported that 688 permits for the sale of fireworks and firecrackers were received for Aidilfitri, with 635 approved and the remaining rejected
due to issues such as the inability to contact applicants. Additionally, 219 inspections have been conducted at approved locations, resulting in two arrests for operating fireworks businesses without valid permits.
