Aaron-Noraqilah Triumph Again with Mixed Doubles Gold at SUKMA

Sukma: Melaka's mixed doubles pair Aaron Tai and Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan successfully retained their gold medal at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) held at the Selangor 2026 Games today. This marks their second consecutive victory in the mixed doubles category.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the duo faced a challenging match at the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam. They emerged victorious after a gripping three-set battle against Kelantan's Kang Khai Xing and Chan Wen Tse, with scores of 21-18, 21-23, and 21-8. The win was particularly meaningful for Aaron, who, at 19 years old, marked his final appearance at SUKMA.

Aaron expressed his satisfaction with the achievement, stating his happiness in securing the win for Melaka. His partner, Noraqilah, also shared her joy, mentioning that they aimed to stay relaxed during the final. Despite difficulties in the second set due to the strong wind affecting their performance, they managed to maintain their composure and secure the victory.

In other results, the bronze medal in mixed doubles went to Penang's Tan Zhi Yang and Nicole Tan Pei En after defeating their teammates Nixon Ang Jia Shen and Tan Zhing Hui with scores of 21-11 and 21-10.

The men's doubles event saw Federal Territories complete a one-two finish, with Bryan Jeremy Goonting and Low Han Chen defeating Damien Ling Tang Le and Ethan Oh Joon Hui 21-16, 21-12. Johor's Toh Ee Hern and Wee Yee Tern claimed the bronze medal after a close match against Sarawak's Darrent Lim Lian Zhan and Isyraf Hafizin Ibrahim, ending with scores of 21-17, 17-21, and 21-18.

In the women's doubles, Perak's Chong Jie Yu and Vannee Gobi emerged as champions, overcoming Federal Territories' Leong Hwee Ling and Teh Xin Ying in a hard-fought match, winning 21-15, 20-22, and 21-8. The bronze medal went to Johor's Dania Sofea Zaidi and Low Zi Yu, who defeated the home pair Sheyeon Wong E-Shwen and Tan Xin Yu 21-14, 21-14.
