Sarawak: Sarawak invites the corporate sector, particularly those in the banking and education industries, to collaborate in strengthening the state's education system. Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg emphasized that corporate involvement, whether through sponsoring digital tools, funding teacher-training workshops, or supporting learning hubs, will have a long-lasting impact.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abang Johari stated that corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Sarawak must evolve from one-time donations to strategic and sustainable efforts aligned with the state's long-term goals. He highlighted that while the government can provide policy direction and infrastructure, the participation of the private sector, banks, universities, and local communities is crucial for effective development. "Development is most effective when everyone contributes -- each according to their strengths and expertise," he remarked during The Hornbill Foundation's 'No Kid Left Behind' event.
Abang Johari also addressed Sarawak's ongoing modernization efforts, emphasizing the state's preparation for future job markets in sectors like renewable energy, digital services, artificial intelligence, and green technology. He stressed the importance of equipping the youth with technical skills, creativity, and global awareness to seize these opportunities. "We must view education not only as a social obligation but as a strategic investment. The knowledge and skills we cultivate today will determine Sarawak's competitiveness tomorrow. That is why I always say: when we educate one child, we are not only changing one life; we are building a better Sarawak," he added.
