Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM) has expressed its appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his diplomatic efforts in ensuring the safety of all 23 Malaysian activists who participated in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission and for facilitating their safe return home. ABIM president Ahmad Fahmi Mohd Samsudin highlighted that this diplomatic success underscores Malaysia's commitment to humanitarian principles and global solidarity with the Palestinian people.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Fahmi noted that the achievements of Malaysia's diplomatic efforts demonstrate that a principled diplomacy grounded in MADANI values can effectively balance humanitarian imperatives and national security. All Malaysians detained by the Zionist regime since Thursday were released and departed from Ramon Airport in Israel, arriving in Istanbul yesterday.
In a live address on Facebook, the Prime Minister stated that the release involved international coordination, including discussions between Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as the Jordanian government. Additionally, talks were held between Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the success was also a result of his negotiations with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Trkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Trkiye's National Security Adviser Dr. Ibrahim Kalin.
Ahmad Fahmi stated that Malaysia's diplomatic success demonstrates its role as a moral voice on the international stage, advocating for justice and humanity against oppression in Palestine. He suggested that Malaysia should continue to strengthen its humanitarian diplomacy with regional and Islamic civil society organizations.
ABIM also expressed gratitude for the cooperation extended by the Turkish government, international authorities, and humanitarian agencies involved in the rescue and care of Malaysian activists, including the provision of psychological and medical assistance upon their arrival in Istanbul.
Ahmad Fahmi proposed that Malaysia position itself as a regional hub for humanitarian diplomacy by engaging civil society organizations and international partners to enhance advocacy networks, relief coordination, and humanitarian missions under universal compassion.
The Federation of Peninsular Malay Students (GPMS) echoed similar sentiments, stating that the successful release of the Malaysian activists demonstrates Malaysia's effective and principled diplomacy. GPMS president Fazreen Fauzi praised the leadership of PMX (Anwar) and the commitment of the MADANI government to uphold global peace.
Fazreen Fauzi also extended respect and congratulations to Malaysia's humanitarian heroes in the GSF mission for their courage and resilience in advocating for solidarity with the people of Palestine. He reaffirmed GPMS's support for Malaysia's leadership and the global community in the cause for a free Palestine.
