Kuala lumpur: The Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM) is actively addressing the worsening flood conditions impacting several states nationwide. Its Secretary-General, Ahmad Fawwaz Ahmad Shukri, announced that ABIM, in collaboration with Global Peace Mission (GPM) Malaysia, Adab Youth Garage (AYG), and Rahmah Support Team (RST), is spearheading efforts to deliver essential goods, provide hot meals to victims at their homes and temporary evacuation centers (PPS), and conduct post-flood clean-up operations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative also includes distributing blankets, quilts, and clothing to the affected families, along with assisting in the evacuation of patients from hospitals and homes stranded by the floods in Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, and Perak. These efforts are supported by a network of 260 trained volunteers, whose numbers are expected to grow in response to field demands.
Ahmad Fawwaz emphasized that ABIM, alongside its partner agencies, has established seven Operations and Donation Collection Centres across the country to ensure aid is distributed efficiently and reaches more victims. These centers play a crucial role in coordinating the distribution of basic necessities, clothing, and hygiene kits, as well as organizing volunteers for cleaning efforts, providing psychosocial support at PPS, and managing logistics for donations and volunteer activities.
Ahmad Fawwaz also stated that the public can contribute to the relief efforts through the website www.infaqabim.com. He reiterated ABIM's commitment to delivering aid swiftly and in an organized manner, tailored to the immediate needs of the victims.
In emphasizing unity, Ahmad Fawwaz called on all sectors, including government bodies, corporations, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and local communities, to collaborate in supporting those affected by the floods, ensuring no one is overlooked in this challenging time.
