About 230,000 Users Hit By Power Outage In East Coast Of Sabah

Penampang: A landslide in Kampung Sarapung, Penampang, near here, caused a Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (Sabah Electricity) transmission tower to slip, leading to a power outage in the east coast area of Sabah last night. Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said nearly 230,000 consumers were affected by the incident, and the affected areas included Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Kunak, Semporna and Beluran.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sabah electricity technical team is working around the clock to immediately restore the power supply. "Among the work being carried out are conductor bridging, installation of an emergency tower within eight days as part of short-term measures, followed by the construction of a permanent tower," said Chief Minister Hajiji Noor. He acknowledged the inconvenience faced by the people and urged the community to unite and remain hopeful as efforts are made to address the situation.

Yesterday, Sabah Electricity reported that several areas on the east coast of Sabah experienced power outages due to a disruption in the 275KV Kolopis-Segaliud transmission line involving line 1 and line 2 at 5.05 pm.
