Accountant Loses Nearly RM1 Million in Investment Scam

Kulai: A female accountant lost RM916,700 after falling victim to a non-existent share investment scam that promised high returns within 24 hours.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 55-year-old victim was enticed by offers of profits ranging between 30 and 40 percent. She proceeded to make 35 transactions into four local bank accounts over the period from October 2 to November 11.

Kulai police chief Supt Tan Seng Lee explained that the victim was assured her profits would be visible on the RGFO Maxx investment application. Initial checks suggested an alleged profit of RM5.43 million. However, when the victim attempted to withdraw her funds, she discovered that the account in the application was blocked. Realizing she had been deceived, she subsequently lodged a police report.
