Accurate Government Information Key To Youth Empowerment – Wan Azizah

Kuala lumpur: Youth must be equipped with accurate information on the government's MADANI initiatives, particularly those related to personal development, to strengthen their social and economic prospects, says Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Wan Azizah, who is also the chairperson of Kasih Malaysia, the charity and welfare organisation of wives of Pakatan Harapan leaders, said young people must be able to critically assess the information they receive.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Azizah emphasized the challenge of maintaining authenticity of information in the digital era, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic. She highlighted the need for effective communication, noting that some individuals remain unaware of government assistance despite the Prime Minister's efforts to secure investments for the nation.

She pointed out that the prevalence of false information can overshadow the government's efforts in providing assistance in sectors such as health and education. Wan Azizah urged the youth to adhere to proper ethics and etiquette on social media, advocating for respectful and positive communication that aligns with eastern values.

Wan Azizah further remarked that youth hold the key to the nation's future, recalling that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim himself began his advocacy work at a young age. She expressed her belief that future leaders, characterized by integrity and resilience against misinformation, are among today's youth.

To enhance the prospects for youth, Wan Azizah highlighted the importance of reinforcing family institutions, particularly in supporting educational endeavors. The NANBA programme, organised by the Department of Community Communication (JKOM), aims to engage with the Indian community, with a focus on youth. The event included MADANI Rahmah sales, an art competition, service counters from government agencies, henna art contests, health screenings, and immunisation programmes.

The event was attended by JKOM director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop and Sentosa assemblyman Dr Gunaraj George, who distributed MyKasih aid to 300 recipients.
